Happy New Year Sweetpeas!

I've started the New Year with a bang and just can't stop creating with the new 'SUN SOAKED' collection from Creative Memories. It's Summer here right now in Australia so this collection is perfect for documenting all of our favourite memories. Here's a little look at my most recent layout:

If you're scrapping along at home you're going to need a few supplies-

I did use the Whitecapped Waves decorative border punch which has now unfortunately sold out. However, you could try the Monstera Leaves border punch

You're also going to need scissors, a ruler and pencil.

Select a designer paper you would like for your circular frame and place the print you wish to see face down on your cutting mat. Rule through the centre horizontally and vertically with your ruler and pencil. Centre your Jumbo CCS Template and cut around the outside edge with the red blade.

(NOTE: You may notice I have permanent markings on my Jumbo Circle. This helps when you want to align your circle centred on your cutting mat. By having the centre markings on my template makes it super fast to get into place.)

Use the pencil rulings on your cut circle to line up and keep it centred on your cutting mat. Using a ruler and pencil, mark through the circle at every 30 degrees. (You will have 12 pie shapes).

Turn your Whitecapped Waves border punch upside down, and align a pencil line through the centre of the punch, and punch. Punch every second pencil line around the circle in the same manner.

Next you need to punch the remaining lines. Carefully align the punch the same way and punch all the way around the circle until you have your circular frame. I did find every second wave had a straighter edge with this method but it didn't bother me too much, as it was only minimal.

Next, cut another circle using the Jumbo CCS Template and Bright White cardstock on the inside track with the red blade. Adhere this circle to the centre of a designer paper, then adhere the circular frame over the top.

My corners of the page looked a little bland so I cut four squares of a contrasting paper 2" x 2". Then using my scissors, I cut up from one corner diagonally into the centre on each. I folded back each peak and adhered them down flat. I positioned one in each corner of my layout and adhered into place a few millimetres from the edge of the paper.

It was all coming along nicely, however I decided to add a little 'extra' to my frame. I punched some straight edged borders from a contrasting paper with the Whitecapped Waves border punch. I went through the scraps and save the punched out pieces in between each wave and added them to my frame. (The border strips I punched won't go to waste, they can be used on another layout.)

All that was left to do was add my photos. I did a double matting- The first was 4" x4", the second 3.75" x 3.75" and my photos were trimmed to 3.5" x 3.5"

To complete my layout all I needed to do once my photos were in place was add some embossed embellishments and stickers. I love how this turned out and hope that you give it a try for yourselves.

Oh hey!....Before you go.....Do you want even more inspiration for the Sun Soaked collection??
