Swishy Fishy | By The Seashore

Today I'm sharing a fun little layout I created featuring the new 'By The Seashore' collection from Creative Memories. I couldn't resist creating some cute fish using the new Embossed Scallop Shell punch, which was a perfect theme for my photos - This punch can be used in a variety of ways. Here's a little look at my layout. Read along for the instructions, I'd love for you to create this too!-

First off I cut a circle from Bright White cardstock using my Jumbo circle template & red blade on the outside track. Next, using my zig-zag CCS border template, I cut several strips from designer paper- widths of between 1" to 1.5" using my red blade. I distressed the edges a little with my scissors and added some Rich Cocoa Memento ink to the edges. They were adhered to the base of my circle and I cut away the overhang.

Next, I cut some strips of varying designer papers with my wavy edged CCS border tool and red blade. I varied the widths between 0.25" and 0.5". I layered these to the side of my circle - (you don't need to have them too perfect), and cut away the overhang.

Using a sheet of Lagoon Shimmer paper, I cut another circle using my Jumbo Circle template. This time I cut around the outside edge with my blue blade. This circle was adhered to the back of my white circle before being stuck over a sheet of background paper. Now I know that's a lot of layers so remember you can remove the centre from the base first if you wish.

Now it's time to make some Fish! The next image shows all the tools I used to create them-

• Embossed Scallop Shell punch

• Small Heart CCS template & red blade

• Small Heart punch from the Key To My Heart trio punch set

• Cycle Circles Border Maker Cartridge

• Handheld 1-hole punch

• Scissors

• Precision Point Adhesive Pen

Using the small heart CCS template, cut one 'egg' shape from the inside track with the red blade.

Next, punch two shells with the Embossed Scallop Shell Punch and cut one in half vertically.

Now when it comes to the eye, you can use anything you have on hand in your stash to create the size you want. I inserted the Cycle Circles BMC into the Border Maker System and freehand punched once. This circle punch out was a perfect size.

The eye pupil was punched with the Handheld 1-hole punch.

Punch two hearts with the Mini Heart punch for the side fin and the mouth.

Next came the fun part, assembling the fish...

One shell was adhered to the tapered end of the egg shape as the tail. The two shell halves were added to the top & base and one heart was glued as the mouth. I used a foam square to add the side fin & eye, giving a nice overall dimension.

Once my fish were adhered into place on the layout I couldn't resist some bubbles too. I used the same BMC and hole punch for these although I didn't want to use the same blue paper as the fish, so instead I gently swiped my Summer Sky Memento ink across some white cardstock before punching the circles. This made a nice textured effect & difference in tone between the fish and the bubbles.

To complete my layout I created a title with my Cricut Joy using Cricut Design Space. The font for this was 'Splatink'.

You can use any size photo you like for this design- I chose to use two 4" x 3" photos with a 4.25" x 3.25" photo mat behind them.
