Jellyfish | Ocean Treasures

I had a little fun in the scrap studio today recreating one of my favourite designs. It's not the first time I have created an oceanic themed page featuring a Jellyfish but I loved how this version turned out. This layout was created using the Advisor Exclusive collection 'Ocean Treasures' from Creative Memories. (One of the many perks of being a Creative Memories Advisor is the exclusive products you have access too. Feel free to ask me how to join Creative Memories as an Advisor!).....

I made another version many years ago using the retired 12-inch decorative trimmer to achieve it. For reference, here's a blast from the past........

Anywayyyy.....

Let me share how you can create my newest Jellyfish layout. Let's call the updated version Jellyfish 2.0!

You will need to cut a circle from designer paper using the large CCS Circle Template & red blade around the outside track. Remove a 1.5" wide slice from your circle.

Next, using your Wavy edged CCS Border Cutting Tool & red blade, cut several strips to measure 0.5" x 12" and 0.25" x 12". I used three different designer papers but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Next, cut some facial features! Using the small CCS Circle Template & blue blade, cut two circles from Bright White cardstock on the inside track.

Using Black cardstock, cut around the inside track of the small CCS Circle Template using the green blade. HOLD THE TEMPLATE in place and cut again, only this time using the red blade to produce a ring shape.

From Black cardstock, punch two small circles using the Handheld 1-hole punch.

Cut a sheet of Bright White cardstock to measure 11.5" x 11.5" and adhere over the top of a sheet of Lagoon Shimmer paper. (You can remove the centre of this base layer first to conserve your supply if you like.)

Adhere the 'body' of the Jellyfish to the page & add the wavy strips below. TIP: You don't have to have these perfect. Cut some of the lengths shorter and adhere them entwined and facing different directions. Have fun with them!

Once your Jellyfish is in place you can add a decorative border strip across the straight edge of the circle. I used the 'Whimsical Scallop' decorative border punch, and adhered it with foam squares to add dimension.

Adhere your eyes into position. I glued the pupils with the Precision Point Adhesive Pen, then added the eyes with foam squares also.

Cut a small 'smile' shape from the black ring & adhere to the Jellyfish, again using the Adhesive Pen.

Before I adhered my photos into place, I added a little stencilling with ink. I used the 'Distressed Elements' stencil with 'Toffee Crunch' Memento ink and a blending brush. I thought these little splatters looked like bubbles!

The photo mats used were cut from Beige cardstock & measured one- 5.75" x 3.75" and two- 3.75" x 3.75". I adhered one- 5.5" x 3.5" photo and two- 3.5" x 3.5" photos to the layout.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing how my layout came together and you give this one a try for yourselves. Don't forget to tag me on social media @paper_sweetpea I love seeing what you create!

Happy scrapping!
