Scrap Busting - Christmas Charm

Writer's picture: papersweetpeapapersweetpea

Hello Sweetpeas! After a busy few weeks of creativity with the 'Christmas Charm' collection from Creative Memories, I found myself at the point where I had a bunch of scrap trimmings of paper that I just couldn't stand the thought of wasting or putting away and forgetting. Since I'm not a huge cardmaking fan, I thought the best way was to lay down a challenge to myself and create a layout with the scraps. Now when I say I only had scraps, I really mean it. I didn't even have a full sheet of designer paper to use as a background, so I opted for some cardstock instead. Here is a little look at the completed layout.

(You will find my video tutorial for this layout at the end of my blog post.)

Paper flowers are my favourite embellishment to make and this technique was perfect for using up my scraps. I combined strips of paper before cutting each petal, to produce a festive 'patchwork' flower. I teamed these with some punched leaves using AVOCADO cardstock and the Circle punch.

I was super stoked to find some CRANBERRY SERIF stickers in my stash which were great for creating a simple title.

My 6" x 4" photo was adhered to a mat from the Christmas Charm Variety Mat pack. As for the two smaller photos, I trimmed them to a 3.5" x 3.5" size and added them to some designer paper mats cut to 3.75" x 3.75".

To complete my page I added some journal strips, which I also added a little ink to the edges of, to help stand out against the white background of the layout. Using my black DUEL-TIP PEN, I freehand drew a border around the outside of the layout. This is a minor detail to add but adds a nice effect to the overall completed page.

If you would like to watch exactly how I brought my layout together, you can check out my YouTube video here:

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Kylie
