Here's The Scoop! - Ice Cream Social

G'Day Sweetpeas!

It has just turned into Summer here in the Land Down Under and Summer makes me think Ice Cream......One of my favourite food groups....Ha! I had some of the *Ice Cream Social collection tucked away in my stash unopened and thought this would be perfect for creating a fun 'Summery' themed layout.

(The Ice Cream Social collection was part of a past 'you-pick-it' spend bundle promo from a few months ago by Creative Memories. However, you could use any bright and fun collection you have on hand.)

This layout was super fast to put together and I know you will have a lot of fun recreating it for yourselves. Let's take a looksy-

To start with, I trimmed a sheet of BRIGHT WHITE cardstock to measure 11.5" x 11.5" and adhered it to a sheet of LAGOON BREEZE cardstock. (*You could also use ISLAND WATERS)

Next I cut down a sheet of the yellow toned designer paper from the paper pack to measure 9" H x 11.5" W and adhered it through the centre of the layout. A fun border sticker was trimmed to a 11.5" length and then added to the top and bottom edge of this paper strip.

I sat my background aside and put together this cute ice cream cone. For each scoop I used the medium Circle CCS Template with the RED BLADE on the inside track. Three circles were cut from different papers and to produce the wavy bottom edge of each, I just used my scissors and freehand cut along.

Using BEIGE cardstock, I cut a 2" W x 3" H strip. I marked the bottom 2" edge at the halfway point, being 1". Using my PHOTO TRIMMER I cut from each top corner of this strip down to the centre pencil marking to form a cone shape. The pointy end was rounded off a little using my scissors.

Using HOT FUDGE cardstock and my *DIAGONAL PLAID punch from in my stash, I punched one strip. This was then added as an overlay to my cone and I trimmed away any overhang.

**NOTE: If you don't have the Diagonal Plaid punch in your stash, you could also use the FISHNET BORDER PUNCH as a substitute.

I like to add a little brown ink to my edges to help each individual piece stand out. A helpful tip for applying ink on edges that may be hard to reach with an ink dauber is to use a cotton tip.

With my Ice Cream cone in place I cut some photo mats. My mats are: one 6" x 4" and two - 4" x 4". My photos will be trimmed to: one- 5.75" x 3.75" and two- 3.75' x 3.75".

Once my photo mats were in place I decided I really wanted to add a large title. (Note: You don't have to add a title, you could instead add some journaling or another photo in place of.)

Using SOFT PINK and LAGOON BREEZE cardstock, I created a fun title using my Cricut Joy. For those who wish to do similar, I used BFC Block Toys font and added an offset behind the font.

A few bright stickers completed my layout and I was really happy with the end result.

I hope my layout has inspired you to give it a try for yourselves. Until next time,

happy scrapping.

Kylie
