Beyond The Sea | Coastal Scenes

I recently purchased the 'Coastal Scenes' bundle from Creative Memories and WOWSERS! If you haven't checked this super adorable mini collection out yet, I highly recommend you do. In fact, there are a whole bunch of different themed 'scenic' collections but this one had me from the start. I LOVE the paper designs, the colour palette and theme so much. As a family, we have many, many fond memories of visiting Sea World on our holidays and I have sooo many 'sea' themed photos to document. I created this cute page for this particular reason and I thought it turned out really cute so I wanted to share the finished layout with you!

Firstly, you will need four sheets of cardstock. I chose Cranberry, Bright White, Cool Grey and Baby Blue. (Oh and a very small piece of Black.)

I trimmed a sheet of Cranberry to measure 10.5" x 10.5". The Bright White was trimmed to 10" x 10" and adhered centred over the Cranberry square. Next, I adhered these layered squares tilted on an angle over a sheet of designer paper. I loved the wood grain print. From here I started on my little Walrus.....Let's call him Wally....'Hey Wal!'

If you'd like to create him too here is a cutting guide and list of the shapes you need....

ree

1- Small circle CCS template + red blade on the outside track from Cool Grey cardstock.

2- Second smallest oval CCS template + red blade on the outside track from Cool Grey cardstock.

3- Small circle CCS template + green blade on the inside track from Bright White cardstock. Cut 4.

4- Cut two strips 0.5" x 2". Taper and round off one end of each with scissors- freehand.

5- Small circle CCS template + red blade on the outside track from designer paper. Cut in half.(Will only use half).

6- Cut a strip to measure 4" x 1" from the same designer paper as piece 5.

7- Small circle CCS template + blue blade on the inside track from Black cardstock. Cut 2.

8- Small oval CCS template + blue blade on the inside track from Black cardstock. Cut 1.

9- Using the handheld 1-hole punch -punch two from Bright White cardstock.

10- Cut 6 really, really thin strips of Black cardstock to measure 2.5" long.

(*Now, I did add some ink to the edges of my pieces, but you don't have to. I used Black Soot Distress Ink on the white pieces -excluding 9- as well as on pieces 5 & 6. I used Pumice Stone Distress Ink on the Black & Grey pieces - excluding pieces10.)

Cut 2" off the base of piece 2 and adhere piece 1 over the curved top for the head. Adhere pieces 5 & 6 as a hat over the top of piece 1.

Adhere both 9 pieces over 7 and adhere these two pieces over two of piece number 3 for the eyes. I used the White Gelly Roll Pen to add a highlight to the eyes. (This is THE best white pen I have used.) Adhere the eyes in place with foam squares. Adhere pieces 10 behind the two remaining number 3 pieces as whiskers as well as adhering pieces 4 below as tusks. Adhere this below the eyes and add piece number 8 with a foam square as the nose. I did use my Black Dual-Tip Pen to draw some spotted highlights next to the whiskers on the nose.

Ta-Dah! So simple to bring together. I added an Anchor punch to his little hat, highlighted with the White Jelly Roll Pen. (Sadly this punch is no longer available.) I also added some texture behind my photos with the Fishnet Border Punch.

Baby Blue cardstock was used for my photo mats measuring one - 6" x 4", one- 5" x 3.5" and one- 3.5" x 3.5". Photos will be trimmed to one- 5.75" x 3.75", one 4.75" x 3.25" and one- 3.25" x 3.25".

I hope you give this fun layout a try and please do check out the Divine 'Coastal Scenes' mini collection. Until next time,

Happy Scrapping,

Kylie xx
