Bee Mine... | Happy Together

Writer: papersweetpeapapersweetpea

Hello Sweetpeas!

I've been a busy 'bee' in my scrap studio creating with the gorgeous 'Happy Together' collection from Creative Memories. This is a super adorbs mini collection with a fun Valentine theme. The paper pack contains 6 sheets of designer paper with THE prettiest designs....It's been super popular and will be returning in February. Whilst the embellishment pack contains 20 of the most fun icons as well as some heart stickers!

For my layout today it features a fun little Bee which...If you have scrapped with me for a while, would know I created one similar 3 years ago for NSD. This little guy is different so I'm calling him 'Bumble 2.0'.

Because sharing is caring, I want you to know how to make a cute little Bee too.....

I wanted my papers to really 'pop' so I decided on a BRIGHT WHITE cardstock base which I trimmed to 11.5" x 11.5". It was adhered over some RED cardstock. Next, I cut a 11.5" x 4" strip of the striped designer paper and adhered it to the base of the page. The circle punch was used to create the scalloped edge. I punched several circles, cut them in half before adhering to the top of the strip. (*My OCD made sure I lined up the stripes perfectly too!) I then added a thin strip of the red designer paper over the join lines. Whilst a lot of the scallops are covered by my photos, I still think it gives a nice finish to the background.

I also trimmed a 11.5" x 1" strip of the striped paper for the top of the page too, for balance.

Here's a little look at all the bits and bobs you will need for your Bee.

Using the medium circle CCS template I cut-

3 from the inside track with green blade.

1 from the inside track with red blade.

Using the small heart CCS template (from the Gemstone set) I cut-

2 'egg' shapes from the inside track with red blade.

Using the smallest oval CCS template I cut-

2 from the inside track using the blue blade from bright white cardstock.

I also cut one from the inside track with blue blade from designer paper. (Not photographed)

Using the Piece-By-Piece punch set I punched-

2 hearts from designer paper

2 small circles from black cardstock

1 moon from black cardstock

I also cut several thin strips of black cardstock, and freehand cut a triangle from designer paper for his little sting.

It is pretty easy to figure out how this little guy comes together once you have all of your shapes cut. The largest circle is obviously the head, and the two 'egg' shapes are his wings. The extra oval I cut from designer paper is for the nose. ( *I did google if a Bee has a nose and guess what?? They don't.... But my motto has always been, "If it looks cute, it doesn't need to make sense".) I adhered Bumble to my layout with foam squares so that it gave my page some dimension.

You all know I love my big titles. The 'Bee Mine' title was created using my Silhouette Cameo. (You can always use some ABC/123 stickers too!) To create the title I used the font 'Hug Me Tight'. From there I added two off-set backgrounds both set at 0.125. Once I had my title together I found the black cardstock blended in a little to the striped paper, so I added a little white ink to the edges for contrast.

To complete my layout I also went a little crazy creating layered hearts. This was also achieved with just a simple heart template on my Silhouette Cameo and the offset feature.

Thanks for dropping by my blog today. I hope you give Bumble a try for yourselves, I'd love to see your versions.

Until next time,

Kylie xx
