On The Nice List | The Magic Of Christmas

After a busy few weeks I finally had time to sit down and create with the new 'The Magic Of Christmas' collection from Creative Memories. This is a traditional themed, festive collection which would be perfect for the upcoming holidays.

I used Cranberry Molten Lava cardstock from a recent Creative Memories promotion as the backing (as well as for some of the flowers). I LOVE the shimmer effect this cardstock has. Next, I trimmed down a sheet of Bright White cardstock to measure 11.5" x 11.5" and adhered this over the Cranberry backing.

Once my background was ready I began working with the laser cut borders. First I placed a border over some Gold Shimmer solid core paper and traced along the edge of the border that would be closest to the centre of the layout. (For the green bow border it was the bottom edge, and for the red ribbon it was the top edge.) Then I cut away the shape of the border, but making sure I was a few millimetres inside of the pencil trace line. This ensures a neat fit when I overlay and adhere the laser cut border on the paper. I allowed a measurement of around 11.5" x 2" for the top gold strip and 11.5" x 1.5" for the bottom. I love the effect these borders give to the layout once I had them adhered into place. I also added a Candy Striped border sticker to the top and base of the page.

The 'poinsettia' flowers I created are similar to others I have shared before. I used the Circle punch for the red flowers and the smallest circle CCS template with red blade on the inside track for the Dark Green flowers. Each flower needed 5 - 6 circles and once they were all punch I kept four circles whole as a base for each and set about creating the petals. Reinsert each circle into the circle punch to form a petal shape and punch. You will get two petals from each circle. Once you have punched all the petals, fold each in half and reinsert just the tip of them with curve side edge down and punch the smallest tip. This will give you the unique pointy tip on each petal. From here you can add adhesive to the base circle and add your petals. I centred mine using a foam square with some of the Essential Floral Embellishments including the enamel stickers, (which I also added to the centre of the bows on my top border.)

After I had completed my flowers I adhered a 10.75" x 6.75" piece of designer paper through the centre of the layout before sticking my photos into place.

To complete my page I added a few extra embellishments and stickers. You could also add some journaling if you wish!

I hope you find some of the techniques I've shared with you all helpful and you give some a try for yourselves. Until next time,

happy scrapping!
